Katie Haun, a former A16Z partner, raises $1.5 Billon for 2 New Crypto Venture FundsKatie Haun, who co-led the crypto arm of Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) until December 2021, has raised $1.5 billion for two new crypto-focused funds for her new firm, ‘Haun Ventures’.
The Crypto Fund aims to concentrate on Web 3.0 and the future of internet. Haun posted the following:
“We’re energized by the opportunity to invest in every layer of the web3 tech stack and will back projects in their early stages as well as when they are ready to accelerate growth.”
Female VCs have the biggest debut funds
Katie Haun submitted a Form ADV to the SEC as Katie Haun after she left A16z in Dec 2021. She used the KRH Partners address. The VC firm had since been operating under the “placeholder” name until recently, when the crypto VC firm received the name Haun Ventures.
Haun Ventures raised $1.5 billion to break records and become the largest single female venture capitalist-funded debut fund.
The funds raised by Haun will be split between an early-stage fund and an “acceleration” fund. 500 million will go to early-stage investment, and $1 billion goes towards the acceleration fund. This fund is for projects at later stages.
According to the report, Haun received backing from a16z and some of the firm’s individual partners. Haun Ventures was also supported by university endowments and charitable foundations.
