LONDON (Reuters] -WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange will tie the knot with Stella Moris on Wednesday in a southeast London high-security prison. It is a small, intimate ceremony that was attended only by four friends and two officials witnesses.

Assange remains in prison while U.S. officials seek his extradition for him to stand trial on 18 charges related to WikiLeaks’ massive troves U.S. military records, diplomatic cables and other documents that were released more than a decade back.

Australian-born 50-year old has been locked up at Belmarsh prison in London since 2019, and was previously held for seven years in London’s Ecuadorean Embassy.

Two children he had while living in the embassy were born to him and Moris. Moris was more than a decade younger than he, and they met when Moris started working on his legal team. The couple began to be together in 2015.

The ceremony, which will be led by the registrar, will occur during visits to the prison where many of Britain’s most notorious criminals are currently serving sentences.

On security grounds, the prison refused to allow journalists or photographers into its cells as witnesses.

Moris stated that they were convinced that Julian will be seen as a person in an article that he wrote for Guardian. “Not a name but a person. They fear that Julian will be invisible to all the people, especially during his wedding.

She claimed she was married to the love of her life, whom she called wonderful, intelligent, and funny.

British fashion designer Vivienne, who previously opposed his extradition, designed Moris’s wedding dress as well Assange’s kilt.

The silvery-coloured gown featured an inscribed of the words and her long veil had messages like “valiant”, “relentless” and “free and enduring love”.

Assange received a setback when Assange was denied the right to file an appeal against the decision of Britain’s Supreme Court to exonerate him. He could, however, challenge the government’s extradition decision.
