REUTERS/Kim Hong-Ji SEOUL (Reuters), South Korea’s nominated central bank chief has expressed concern about mounting inflationary pressures. He said that he will review the best ways to manage price pressures, growth and financial imbalances.
Rhee Chan-yong is a former official of the International Monetary Fund. He said, in writing, that concerns about whether inflation and other economic risks in home are increasing simultaneously as external uncertainty increases.
He made these remarks just days after Rhee was nominated by the president to be the next chief of the central bank.
Rhee has mentioned the uncertainties in the external environment as the faster normalization of Federal Reserve’s money policy and the slowdown in China caused by the Omicron coronavirus variant.
Rhee declared, “I will present my ideas about the policy and organisational administration through the upcoming parlamentar hearing session.”
