Euro zone recovering faster than anticipated: Lagarde By Reuters
FRANKFURT (Reuters) – The euro zone economy is recovering quicker than anticipated just six months ago, mostly due to a rapid vaccination campaign that allowed large sectors of the economy to reopen, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said on Thursday.
Lagarde stated in a speech that the combined gross domestic product from the 19 euro-member countries was expected to recover to pre-crisis levels before the year’s end, even though the recovery trend is still not complete.
