The top performers on the S&P 500 were Macy’s Inc (NYSE:) which rose 3.80% to 22.12, Nordstrom Inc (NYSE:) which was up 3.44% to settle at 27.93 and American Airlines Group (NASDAQ:) which gained 2.63% to close at 19.89.

The worst performers were Freeport-McMoran Copper & Gold Inc (NYSE:) which was down 6.64% to 34.30 in late trade, Arconic Corp (NYSE:) which lost 5.45% to settle at 32.95 and Newmont Goldcorp Corp (NYSE:) which was down 3.95% to 55.43 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Aeye Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 36.53% to 9.83, Elite Education Group International Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was up 33.33% to settle at 7.800 and Leap Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 31.09% to close at 2.5300.

The worst performers were Vera Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 26.54% to 22.48 in late trade, MacroGenics Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 23.76% to settle at 20.99 and Silverback Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 23.08% to 12.50 at the close.

The New York Stock Exchange saw falling stocks surpass advancing stock by 1801 to 1893 while 138 finished unchanged. On the Nasdaq Stock Exchange 1852 rose, 1729 fell, while 1729 was unchanged, with 170 ending unchanged.
