On Sept. 14, United States President Joe Biden revealed his picks to fill two vacant seats at the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Rostin Benhnam, who was acting chairman of the derivatives regulator from January to take over the position on a permanent basis, was also nominated.

They are likely not to encounter any serious hurdles on the way to confirmation as they will need to get a simple majority vote from a Senate controlled by Democrats. How can the cryptocurrency industry be assured of the CFTC if Behnam is elected permanent chairman and Kristin Johnson (Christy Goldsmith Romero) join the agency’s board as commissioners.
