DUBAI (Reuters) – Amazon (NASDAQ:) said on Monday it plans to create 1,500 direct and indirect jobs in the United Arab Emirates this year as it expands its presence in the country.

According to a statement, job creation will be through the expansion of storage and delivery facilities. The number of jobs that will result from these expansions is not known.

Amazon said it would open “four new delivery stations to increase its last-mile capabilities, speed up deliveries, and reach more clients”.

It also said that the expansion would create additional jobs for its partners and sellers.

Amazon Web Services was announced by the company earlier this year to launch three data centres in United Arab Emirates (its second Middle East Infrastructure region).
