ZURICH (Reuters) – The chairman of airport operator Flughafen Zuerich expects business travel to rebound next year, he told a newspaper, adding the Swiss group remained financially sound despite the hit from the coronavirus epidemic.

My personal opinion is that we won’t see much of a recovery in business travel this coming year. Andreas Schmid, a newspaper interviewer said Monday that there will be a strong upwards trend by 2022.

Schmid stated that it is important to provide as many connections to the entire world as possible. However, certain destinations may not be visited as often as they used to. He said that maybe only one plane would take to the skies on a given day, where there were three.

The cash position of the group was good and well capitalized, he said.

To be profitable, we need to have at least half of pre-pandemic flight traffic. We are now at this point, according to our projections. He said that we are currently in a solid, stable position.
