LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – An attorney for Britney Spears on Wednesday asked a Los Angeles judge to terminate the 13-year-old conservatorship that oversees her personal life and finances by the fall.

Mathew Rosegart filed a request to the Los Angeles Superior Court asking that Jamie Spears be removed from his conservatorship. Also, that an interim replacement be appointed to the arrangement.

“Ms. Spears will seek appointment of a temporary, short-term conservator to replace Mr. Spears’s until the conservatorship is completely and inevitably terminated this fall,” the filing said.

Jamie Spears created the court-approved arrangement to manage the singer’s $60 million estate and personal affairs in 2008.

In June, the “Stronger” singer stated to the court that her father controlled her and she desired to be free from the conservatorship. However, no timeframe was requested. Next public hearing is scheduled for September 29.

Surprisingly, Jamie Spears declared in court documents that he supports the end of the consevatorship.

According to Rosengart, Jodi Montgomery is the conservator responsible for Britney’s personal affairs and supports the end of the conservatorship, “subject to proper succession and asset protection.”

Spokespeople from Montgomery and Jamie Spears didn’t immediately reply to inquiries for comment.

This case came to the forefront partly thanks to #FreeBritney social media campaign and New York Times documentary.

Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ:) will release a documentary on the case Tuesday morning, just days before the next court hearing.
