WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris raised concerns about mistreatment of Haitian migrants by border patrol agents during a call with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Tuesday, her spokesperson said.
After images of U.S. border patrol officers on horseback attacking migrants at a Texas riverside camp, the White House condemned horse reins being used to menace Haitian migrants.
Symone Sanders, Harris’s chief spokesperson said that Secretary Mayorkas agreed with Vice President and noted that he will update her about the Office of Professional Responsibility investigation once it is completes.
