All countries should be consulted about UK inclusion in USMCA pact

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – The possible inclusion of the United Kingdom in the USMCA trade pact, also known as TMEC in Spanish, needs consultation with all countries, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Thursday.

Lopez Obrador stated that there was evidence suggesting the United Kingdom wanted to join the treaty. This includes Canada and the United States.

Lopez Obrador stated in a news conference that “This should be taken up by all actors. We cannot anticipate.” “I support maintaining the agreement.”

The USMCA replaces the over-quarter-century old North American Free Trade Agreement, (NAFTA), last year.
