LONDON (Reuters) – The Bank of England kept its main interest rate unchanged at 0.1% on Thursday and stuck to its 895 billion pound ($1.22 trillion) asset purchase target.

Reuters polled economists and found that they expected no changes to the BoE’s policy settings following its September Monetary Policy Committee meeting.

Although policymakers unanimously voted to maintain interest rates at their current levels, Dave Ramsden and Michael Saunders voted to end the central bank’s ongoing program of buying government bonds.

In November 2020, the BoE increased its goal for purchasing government bonds by 150 billion pounds and stated that these purchases would be distributed over 2021.
