(Reuters) – Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:)’s executives ranks remained largely white, although the share of non-white executives rose modestly, while minorities continued to account for most of its blue-collar workforce as the online retailer grew rapidly during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to new company data.
His office announced that Amazon was the most valuable company in terms of market capitalization.
In all 67 companies in the S&P 100 released or plan to release their EEO-1 forms, which show detailed worker information as a result of the campaign, Stringer’s office said.
After last year’s Black Lives Matter demonstrations, the focus has been on the lack of gender and racial diversity among many U.S. corporate leaders.
Amazon is one of America’s largest private employers and closely monitors demographic trends.
Amazon data shows that 71% of U.S. top executives are white as of October 2018, a decrease from 74% in the same period of 2019.
These figures are similar to those of other large technology companies. Many have yet to release 2020 reports. Amazon spokeswoman via e mail that it was making progress towards diversity. The company also highlighted the hiring goals, which include hiring more Black men and women. According to her, 42% were from people of color when newly hired executive in 2020.
Amazon now has 950,000 U.S. employees, with the company describing more of its hiring plans.
Amazon published its filings on Wednesday, showing that “laborers and assisters” was the most important single group of workers. This category accounted for around two-thirds (or 3) of all workers last October.
This form indicated that 74% of those workers was Black, Hispanic, or from other non-white groups. That’s a significant increase over 72% last year.
