Gala Games Forces Development: Spider Tanks First Beta Test, Town Star to Feature TownCoin

Gala Games became the crypto gaming hero of the last two weeks after their GALA token was suddenly listed on Binance. In less than one week, its market value jumped from $3M up to $3B. As the saying goes, “make hay while the sun shines” – Gala Games accelerated all the existing developments right after. They have expressed their desire to be like Enjin, but they are also developing their own games.

Town Star is their first big announcement. It is the main game on the platform, with a beta version already available to players. TownCoin is the new in-game currency and will be replacing BoxCoin.

Spider Tanks was the second announcement. This is a PVP-brawler that runs on blockchain. GAMEDIA, an outside studio from the Netherlands developed this one. Members of $WHALE were able to participate in closed beta testing. Also, a new NFT-tank was dropped.

Flipsider:

  • The great problem with blockchain gaming: they are selling game NFTs before the real games are released. Although this is not a problem, even big gamers have it in their early-access games. However, players are eager to play and collectors long to collect. Sometimes, these two groups of people don’t match.

Aavegotchi Goes 360°! NFTs Unlock their Playable Potential

Inspired by well-known Tamagotchi, Aavegotchi is one more collectible game with wearables, consumables, and mini-game participation mechanics. NFTs use the Aave protocol. From a visual perspective, they are pixelated ghosts; in fact, Aave means “ghost” in Finnish.

The developers created a new function for NFTs. They updated Aavegotchi UI and smart contracts, which brings 360° overview to the characters. Wearables were also presented at the presentation.

This is most likely an indicator that further developments are planned for gaming. 360° overview can be used for a character to interact with the gaming world. Gotchis, although they’re 2D characters can be created in multiverses. Let’s hope the developers will add the support of 3D world some day as well. Developers have already created Gotchiverse and a minigame platform called Aavegotchi Arcade.

Flipsider:

  • The project looks cool. Only problem is that there are no release dates.

GameFi Brings Scholarships to My DeFi Pet

It turns out that there can exist no weekly gaming digest without a mention of monster pet games. Indeed, it’s one of the most popular genres in the blockchain gaming industry. Today’s guest is My Pet Defi that partnered with GameFi, a gaming hub. They have a gaming hub and a yield guild.

It is important to us gamers. It does. Its greatest benefit is its scholarship system. This feature was key to Axie Infinity’s popularity in both the Philippines and around the globe. This means that new players could “rent” a gaming NFT character and earn enough in-game currency to buy their own one and dive into the My Defi Pet world on their own.

The second advantage is My Defi Pet’s native token, $DPET, will appear in the GameFi mystery box.

Flipsider:

  • The scholarship system is also not ideal. People tend to stop playing after a while as it can take up to half an year to break even.

Axie Infinity Reduced Breeding Costs after It Reached $2B in Sales

Although the game is not booming anymore, it remains popular. Its all-time NFT sales exceeded the $2B mark.

Axies’ team announced that they would be reducing their breeding fees by 2X. The original price was 2 AXS. It is now only 1 AXS. It is an impressive difference when you consider that the price for the token was $68.33 as of this writing.

Flipsider:

  • They had to do it a long time ago. AXS token’s price jumped by $7 to $70 in just 1.5 months. Although the price is double reduced, it’s still much higher than what we paid three months ago.

Recent Partnership in Crypto Gaming Field: Google, Dapper Labs, PolkaFantasy, Chainlink

  • Google partnered with Dapper Labs, one of the leading NFT collectible game developers in the blockchain field. After a successful $250 million fundraising round, and after a closing of a deal to make NFTs for La Liga, the company has reached $7.6 billion in value.
  • PolkaFantasy continues to be a gaming hub that aims at creating an NFT-gamified cross-chain marketplace and eventually integrating it into the game multiverse.

PolkaFantasy recently implemented Chainlink Verifiable randomness Function (VRF). The collaboration will be beneficial for future games.

This platform’s style is anime-oriented. They even hired an anime advisor from TV Tokyo Animation

Flipsider:

  • Let’s check if the famous rule that the Japanese studios create top-notch projects is approachable for the blockchain gaming industry as well.
