If the pandemic is under control, airlines stocks may be poised for a rebound in the coming 12 months. Which is why today I’m going to take a look at American Airlines (NASDAQ:) and United Airlines (UAL) to see which is the better investment.The airline sector was among the worst hit amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic brought an end to travel and airlines spent billions to keep their businesses afloat.

Most airline stocks have moderately recovered from the Spring 2020 lows, but the U.S. has not. Global Jets ETF (JETS) is still trading down more than 23% from it’s pre-covid level. As economies all over the globe reopen, this could be a great time to profit from these lower prices.

Which is why today I’m going to analyze two stocks in the airline industry, American Airlines (AAL) and United Airlines (UAL), to see which is currently a better buy.
