CHICAGO (Reuters) – Delta Air Lines (NYSE:) sees a place for Boeing (NYSE:)’s 737 Max airplane at the carrier as it looks to reshape its fleet over the next decade, Airline Weekly reported on Thursday, citing comments by Delta’s chief executive.

“No news to report () we’re constantly talking to [Boeing],” Airline Weekly quoted Delta Chief Executive Ed Bastian as saying in a webinar on Sept. 20. “There’s certainly a place for [the Max] if we can figure out how to bring them in.”

A Boeing 737 MAX Order would mark the debut of Delta. The airline did not own the plane when it was grounded March 2019, following two fatal accidents. This would be Delta’s first major Boeing order in over a decade.

Although the article did not indicate if purchase orders are in the offing, it was unclear if they were.

The Delta spokesperson denied Bastian’s statements and stated that the airline does not have any fleet announcements.

Boeing didn’t respond to our request for comment.

Reuters reported that Boeing was in discussions with Delta regarding the purchase of 40 737 MAX aircraft.

Airline Weekly reports that Bastian indicated in the webinar that Delta also wanted to purchase more Airbus A220 aircraft and A350 planes.

Reuters reached out to Airbus for comment but they did not reply.
