Exclusive-U.N. migration body asks Brazil to receive Haitians on U.S.-Mexico border

RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has formally asked Brazil whether it would receive some Haitians camped along the U.S.-Mexico border hoping to enter the United States, according to two sources with knowledge of the request.

Brazil’s foreign ministry stated that the topic had been discussed with authorities from various countries. The matter is currently being examined in light of existing legislation. However, it did not refer to the IOM request.
