Netflix said on Monday that the first season of “Bridgerton” was its most watched TV series ever, with 82 million subscribers tuning in for at least two minutes in its first 28 day on the service.

Ted Sarandos is Netflix’s chief executive officer. He presented the latest Netflix list of most-watched TV shows and movies during a speech at the Code Conference in Beverly Hills. Sarandos presented a slide which included the top 10 shows in each category.

Shonda Rhimes premiered “Bridgerton,” which is a period piece on 19th-century British royalty. With 76 million accounts, the second-placed French series, “Lupin: Part 1”, and “The Witcher: Season 1,” both starred Henry Cavill.

Among movies, the action film “Extraction” earned the No. It occupied the No.1 spot among movies. Netflix stated that 99 million people watched the film, which is about a captured CIA agent.

The company revealed that “Birdbox,” which is a post-apocalyptic horror film, was followed by the action-comedy, “Spenser Confidential.”

The list included all Netflix originals.

Netflix has invested billions of dollars in original content to drive subscriptions, which have topped 200 million globally. The company has pledged in recent years to be more transparent with creators and subscribers in terms of how many people are watching shows and movies, data that’s not tracked by conventional ratings systems such as Nielsen.

Netflix also provided data about overall engagement. It measures total hours watched a movie or series. The metric was first used by Netflix for “Bridgerton”, followed closely by “Money Heist Part 4” and “Stranger Things 3.

The highest film engagement was achieved by “Bird Box”. The films “Extraction” (starring Joe Pesci, Robert De Niro, and Al Pacino) came in second and third respectively.
