(Reuters) – The gunman who killed five people at the Capital Gazette newspaper in Annapolis in 2018 will be sentenced to prison on Tuesday after a Maryland jury found him criminally responsible for the massacre in July.

Jarrod RAMOS, 41, could face life in prison after he was found guilty of one of the deadliest terrorist attacks on any U.S. media outlet.

Ramos admitted to 23 felonies including five counts for first-degree killing. But he claimed that he wasn’t criminally responsible because of a mental disorder. After just hours of deliberate, the jury rejected Ramos’ insanity defense.

Ramos attacked the Gazette’s Annapolis newspaperroom, shooting dead Rob Hiaasen, the assistant editor of the Gazette, Wendi Snows, 65 and Gerald Fischman, 65 respectively, John McNamara, 56 and Rebecca Smith, 34.

Ramos, who had been fighting a long battle against the paper for a column about him that it published, was finally dismissed.
