PARIS (Reuters) – French supermarket group Carrefour (PA:)’s CEO Alexandre Bompard is examining options for sector consolidation and talks have taken place with the family behind the Auchan chain of stores, French daily Le Monde reported on Thursday.

Le Monde reported that Auchan and Carrefour declined to comment on reports about possible deals.

At 0917 GMT, Carrefour shares were up by 1.06%.
