France to stop mandatory COVID-19 mask wearing in some primary schools By Reuters

PARIS (Reuters) – Pupils will from Oct. 4 no longer have to wear protective face masks in French primary schools in areas with a low COVID-19 infection rate, according to a government decree released on Thursday.
According to data from the health ministry, Paris and its suburbs were not included in the 47 administrative or metropolitan districts where compulsory mask wearing will end.
This is in response to a French improvement in COVID-19 status since the government increased its vaccination campaigns.
The COVID-19 rate in areas where primary school masks are not mandatory must be below 50 per 100,000 residents for five consecutive days.
Gabriel Attal, the spokesperson for France’s government said that France had plans to declare a state emergency through next summer. This was to address the crisis.
