BANGKOK (Reuters] – A province in central Thailand has seen business owners struggle to save their businesses from the floodwaters.

A boat filmed footage from Nakhon Sawan’s commercial area. It was located about 220km (136.7 mi) north Bangkok. The video showed streets that were flooded by brown water. This has caused damage to shops and restaurants.

Floods that have impacted 200,000 homes in thirty provinces of the northeastern and lower north have claimed the lives of at least seven people over the last week. On Thursday, floods had still affected 18 provinces.

Satharn Sae Chua, Nakhon Sawan owner, said, “I prepared by protecting my shops with sandbags but it still wasn’t helpful at all.”

Drone footage captured a city that had no visible dry areas. It also featured large areas of commercial land and submerged fields.

Residents living along the Chao Phraya river that flows through Bangkok were warned by authorities that it is likely that its levels will increase from Friday to next week.

Aswin Kwanmuang the Bangkok governor said that there are contingency measures in place for the city. Prayuth Chanocha, the Prime Minister, indicated that waters will recede in 10-15 day if there is no further storm.

According to the government, the situation can be managed without repeating the 2011 floods, which killed hundreds and damaged large areas of agricultural land, paralyzing Bangkok’s industrial area, and left many people homeless.
