Twitter previews verification badge for NFT profile image

Social media giant Twitter (NYSE:) has given a sneak peek into an in-development tool that will allow its users to set crypto collectibles (verified NFTs) as their profile picture.

Mada Aflak (a senior software engineer at Twitter) shared footage that shows features that enable users to add non-fungible tokens (NFTs), to their accounts. You will have the ability to access your profile, link a wallet and import your OpenSea collection. You can choose from a variety of digital NFT art avatars.

To verify that their profile photo is genuine, they will receive a badge. This allows them to display CryptoPunk, Bored Ape or other NFT profiles.

Aflak stated that this was just a test run using models, and things can change anytime. Aflak encouraged users to provide feedback and suggestions regarding the problem.

Messari Research Analyst Mason Nystrom suggested that Twitter could also enable the integration of crypto wallets following the excitement generated by the verified profile pic. This could be for verifications about how long someone has owned an asset. It might also allow users to suggest followers for others NFT owners.

NFTs and cryptocurrencies are becoming mainstream. A few days ago, Twitter rolled out a tipping feature that would allow its users to transfer on iOS devices. BitColors has a new NFT collection which will let investors trade and purchase colors.
