CHICAGO (Reuters) – United Airlines on Thursday trimmed the number of employees who are facing termination for defying the company’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
Chicago-based airline United stated only 320 U.S.-based employees were not following its COVID-19 vaccination policy. That’s a 46% decrease in just two days.
United stated that 99.5% U.S. employees have been immunized against COVID-19, excluding those who requested an exemption.
United, the U.S.’s first carrier, required COVID-19 vaccines for domestic workers in August.
The company later changed its mind and stated that workers can save their jobs by getting vaccinated prior to formal termination meetings.
According to a spokesperson, the number of employees who have shown proof of vaccination has increased since Monday. According to a company spokesperson, the airline anticipates that there will be a decrease in unvaccinated employees in the coming days.
