Facing Covid vaccine mandates, some students withdraw from college

The Covid vaccine can be a prohibitive price for some students.

Mishler, for the moment, drives a forklift at an Illinois 3M facility near DeKalb.

While Dean, who is a senior in electrical engineering major, won’t be graduating this spring, he stated that he had “no faith” the university wouldn’t institute a mandate for vaccines if he returns to campus in the fall.
Dean stated that vaccine mandates do not take natural immunity into consideration.
At MSU, students are not required To get Covid-19 vaccinated. The university promotes vaccines with weekly draws for students who are vaccinated. These drawings include prizes like $5,000 in financial aid awards and season ski passes.
The university expanded its guidelines on the use of face masks following the September 17th incident. Masks, which were only mandatory in class, and are now required in other indoor areas, as well, including the library, residence halls and dining facilities on the Bozeman campus.

Dean said that Dean’s parents supported him withdrawing from the Fall Semester. They don’t always agree with my political views, but they understand that this was my choice. Dean is part of Young Americans for Liberty which represents libertarian groups on more than 400 university and college campuses.
Data compiled by Chronicle of Higher Education shows that approximately 1000 colleges and universities in the United States require vaccinations to at least some of their students. Students who refuse to be vaccinated were unable to enroll in classes, or their enrollment was canceled.
Others are filing petitions, while others take their case to court. There have already been many lawsuits against school vaccination regulations. However, no college has changed its policy.
A federal judge will be on the bench this summer upheld Indiana University’s Covid vaccine requirement for the fall semester, dealing another blow to students who disagree with vaccine mandates. Judge said that this university policy does not require students to be vaccinated. Other options include “taking a semester away” or going to another university.
Federal court also dismissed cases against University of Massachusetts, and University of Connecticut. More are pending.
