DUBAI (Reuters), – China is attempting to be the focal point of Expo 2020 Dubai by showcasing over 5,000 years worth civilisation crowned with technological advancements.

Visitors to the pavilion “Light of China”, which was opened last week, are greeted by a robotic panda.

It is designed to look like a Chinese red lantern. The pavilion has three floors and attracts millions of tourists who will be attending the Middle East’s inaugural world fair.

Built over a surface of approximately 4,600m2, ‘Light of China’ offers a peek into the future. Space exploration, robotics, and smart cities are some of its many highlights.

Shao Xiong (a Chinese national) said, “You can clearly see now that we are experiencing rapid science development.”

Dubai, the Middle East’s tourist, trade and economic hub, hopes to grow its economy through 25 million visitors to the World Fair. This fair was delayed by the pandemic for one year.

Expo 2020 Dubai officially opened on Thursday, with fireworks and music as well as messages about how global collaboration can make a sustainable future a reality.

China’s pavilion, which is located just blocks from the United States Pavilion, wants to show off its strengths.

Fang Ke, deputy director for the Chinese pavilion, stated, “The Chinese Pavilion’s theme is Building a Community with a Shared Future For Mankind, Innovation and Opportunity.”
