WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – Democratic Senator Ed Markey demanded answers Monday from Facebook’s Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg (NASDAQ:). This is after new research showed that Facebook failed to block harmful advertising to teens.

Markey mentioned comments last week by an executive at Facebook that said the site doesn’t permit weight loss ads or tobacco ads to be displayed to children under 18 years old. Markey said “new research shows Facebook allowed advertisers to target with exactly these types of inappropriate and dangerous content to teen users.” Facebook didn’t immediately respond.
