PARIS (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary Antony Blinken indicated that he would be able to have a discussion with France on Tuesday about rebuilding trust in America after a disagreement over a new Indo Pacific security pact.

Paris was outraged by last month’s announcement of the agreement between Australia, the United States and Britain. It resulted from Canberra terminating a $40 billion defence contract with France for submarines.

Blinken, speaking ahead of talks with Jean-Yves Le Drian about how he will reassure France that America can be trusted said: “We’ll get a chance to speak later.”
