TAIPEI (Reuters) -Taiwan needs to be on alert for China’s “over the top” military activities which are violating regional peace, Premier Su Tseng-chang said on Tuesday, after 56 Chinese aircraft https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/taiwan-reports-surge-chinese-aircraft-defence-zone-2021-10-04 flew into Taiwan’s air defence zone on Monday, the highest ever.

Taiwan reported the arrival of 148 Chinese aircraft force planes to the south and southwest parts of its air defense zone in a period that lasted four days. This was the start date for the National Day celebrations, which China celebrated on Friday.

China has claimed Taiwan as its sovereign territory. This should be taken forcefully if required. Taiwan declares that they are an independent nation and will fight for democracy and their rights.

Taiwan labels China’s near military activities as “grey zone warfare”. This was designed to both test Taiwan’s reactions and wear Taiwan’s out forces.

Taiwan must remain alert. Su said that China was becoming more extreme. “The whole world has witnessed China’s continued violations of Taiwanese regional peace and its pressure on Taiwan.”

He said that Taiwan must “strengthen its self” to be united as one.

Only then can countries who want Taiwan annexed not resort to force. “Only when we are able to help ourselves, can other people help us.”

Taiwan’s President TsaiIng-wen made it a top priority to modernize the Armed Forces. He emphasized the importance of mobile weapons and making any Chinese attack as expensive as possible. This will make Taiwan a “porcupine”.

Taiwan’s largest military supplier, the United States of America, has described China’s growing military activity near it as destabilising. It also reiterated its “rock solid” support for Taiwan.
