Bridgewater’s Jensen Says Stagflation is ‘Real Risk’ to Assets By Bloomberg

(Bloomberg). Inflation concerns are mounting for the U.S. Economy, but the real threat may be rising prices combined with a stagnating economic environment, according to Greg Jensen, Bridgewater Associates Chief Investment Officer.
“The problem is stagflation — that’s the real risk, and so many portfolios are massively exposed,” Jensen said Wednesday at the Bloomberg Invest virtual conference.
Jensen stated that policymakers are limited in their options for dealing with this issue during a Bloomberg Economics interview. “The Fed faces certainly the problem of inflation being well above their target and the inability to be as easy as they’d like to be and being pulled along by that — and certainly the increasing odds that we’re facing bubbles,” he said.
Jensen said that the economy faces both a shortage of supply and pent up demand.
Bridgewater is the world’s biggest hedge fund. The hedge fund manages assets worth $105 billion. It’s Pure Alpha II hedge fund gained 1.4% this year through August.
