IMF chief Georgieva says she was misled by law firm on World Bank probe By Reuters

WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – International Monetary Fund Chief Kristalina Georgieva said Wednesday that WilmerHale had mischaracterized her actions as World Bank CEO. She assured her confidentiality and insisted on her involvement in the investigation.

Georgieva, in a lengthy statement addressed to the IMF executive committee, a copy which was seen by Reuters was rejected WilmerHale’s conclusion that Georgieva and senior World Bank officials had pressured staff members to alter data for China’s benefit. She also stated she was told she wasn’t a part of the investigation.

She claimed that she did not pressure the World Bank staff to make any changes to China’s Doing Business 2018 rankings.
