IBM says all US employees must be vaccinated or face unpaid suspension

IBMThis week, U.S. workers were informed that Covid-19 must be 100% vaccinated by December 8th or they will face an unpaid suspension.

Workers were informed by the company that it was a federal contractor and must adhere to President Joe Biden’s vaccination mandate.

In a memo to its employees, IBM stated that it was a requirement for federal contractors to adhere to this mandate. We will require that all IBM U.S. employees be fully vaccinated in light of the requirements of the policy of many of our partners and clients, as well as the availability of vaccines throughout the country.

Contrary to some other companies, such as United AirlinesIBM does not allow employees to be fired for failing to get vaccinated. After Dec. 8, employees who do not want to get vaccinated won’t be paid until they are fully vaccinated.

CNBC received a statement from an IBM spokesperson stating that it will be looking into medical and religious exemptions for employees who are unable to receive the vaccine.
