MILAN (Reuters – Italy’s Communications Watchdog called Thursday on DAZN, the sport streaming platform for Italy to implement measures that will prevent any malfunctions while streaming matches of the top Italian soccer league Serie A. The move is increasing pressure on DAZN.

Len Blavatnik is the billionaire who owns DAZN. In March, DAZN secured rights to show Serie A matches live for three seasons. The bid was 2.5 billion euros ($2.89 Billion). This partnership involved technical and distribution partnerships with Italy’s largest phone company. Telecom Italia (MI:).

This deal was a significant one for DAZN Europe. It also marked a shift in Italy, where live soccer is one of the most sought-after and beloved content. Previously, it had been distributed mostly through digital terrestrial and satellite television channels.

However, the stream has been criticized by viewers for its poor quality and blockage since the season’s start. Three major issues occurred in live matches which prompted riots.

AGCOM stated that DAZN should take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of its video platform and to provide efficient customer service to resolve any reported issues.

According to the authority, it also announced that it was launching a process for defining quality parameters for live streaming of games of Italy’s highest-flight soccer league. It will also establish thresholds and compensation criteria in case they are not met.

DAZN stated in a statement that it shared its measures to improve service with Italian authorities. It added that it was available for talks with the watchdog to find more effective and equitable solutions.
