A House committee that is investigating Jan. 6, storming at the Capitol, said on Thursday that it had issued three subpoenas in connection to the pro-Trump rallies that preceded and followed the attack.

According to the committee, it sent subpoenas to Nathan Martin and Ali Alexander for records and testimony. They were both allegedly involved in the permits for the rally that took place on Capitol grounds.

The mob entered the building shortly before Trump gave a speech from the White House urging supporters to march towards the Capitol. He then demanded Republicans not to accept key election results from the states.

Additionally, the committee asked Stop the Steal LLC for records. They were affiliated with the Capitol rally. The slogan used in promotion of it shares the same name.

Bennie Thompson, D.Miss., chairman of the select committee, stated in a press statement that “the rally on Capitol grounds on Jan 6th, just like the rally close to the White House that same day, immediately preceded and was followed by the violent attack against the seat of democracy.”

The demonstrations became violent and protestors turned into rioters over the course of the day. The Select Committee must understand every detail about what happened before and after the attack. This includes who planned them, how they were funded and their motivations. Thompson indicated that they expect witnesses to be fully cooperative with their probe.
