U.S. charges former Taliban commander with killing U.S. troops in 2008 By Reuters

(Reuters) – An ex-commander of the Taliban was indicted for the 2008 killing of U.S. troops, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. The indictment was also unveiled by a New York federal grand jury on Thursday.

According to the Justice Department, “Haji Najibullah,” previously indicted for kidnapping an American journalist in 2008, was indicted for attacks in Afghanistan on U.S. Service personnel in 2008. These attacks included attacks that resulted in the death of three American soldiers, their Afghan interpreter, and the destruction of a U.S. Helicopter.
