WASHINGTON (Reuters] – On Wednesday, a federal judge blocked a Texas near-total abortion ban. It is one of the strictest laws in the country and was challenged by President Joe Biden.

Robert Pitman, U.S. District Court Judge in Austin, stopped the state’s enforcement of the Republican-backed law. This prohibits women from having an abortion within six weeks. However, litigation continues over the legality. It is one of many legal disputes over abortion access in the United States. Many states have been seeking to restrict it.
