Tesla CEO Elon Musk once again endorsedThe company will discuss the possibility of a federal carbon-tax at its 2021 annual shareholder meeting.
According to him, the “sustainable future” is made up of solar and wind energy, batteries for energy storage and all types of electric vehicles, including automobiles and boats.
“As we make the transition to an electric vehicle grid that is sustainable, we also move towards a full sustainable energy economy. This is what we are striving to achieve as soon as possible. Musk believes the Texas facility, Giga-Austin will be following in the steps of Tesla’s Shanghai plant. This factory now makes more electric cars that are produced in Fremont in California.
Musk stated that the battery- and manufacturing advancements Tesla is making could lead to cheaper cars. Musk stated then that he was confident in making a $25,000 fully-autonomous electric vehicle. “About 3 year’s from now,” he added. Tesla claimed last year it had also designed its 4680 batteries at Fremont’s California facility.
Musk has not provided any updates on when a $25,000-electric vehicle will be available.
However, he said that Tesla wouldn’t be manufacturing 4680 Texas-made battery cells this year. These cells would be produced at a Fremont facility and shipped to Texas, as Model Y production rises.
Musk stated that he thinks the Tesla crossover utility vehicle will be the best-seller long-term, and surpass the Model 3 sedan.
Earlier this month, Tesla said it delivered 241,300 electric vehiclesDuring the third quarter 2021, the company produced 237 823 cars during that same time period.
Tesla claims that deliveries represent a close approximation of sales. As other automakers have seen their deliveries decline, the company set a new record. This is due in part to supply chain problems and global shortages of chips.
Musk believes global supply chain problems won’t be solved fully in 2023, he stated Thursday.
