Tesla CEO Elon Musk once again endorsedThe company will discuss the possibility of a federal carbon-tax at its 2021 annual shareholder meeting.

According to him, the “sustainable future” is made up of solar and wind energy, batteries for energy storage and all types of electric vehicles, including automobiles and boats.

“As we make the transition to an electric vehicle grid that is sustainable, we also move towards a full sustainable energy economy. This is what we are striving to achieve as soon as possible. The earlier the better. Is there a carbon tax possible? Musk expressed impatience Thursday by saying, “I mean like, What the heck?”

The tax on greenhouse gases, also known as the carbon tax, is a method to lower carbon dioxide and other harmful emissions. To allow industry to develop and offer lower carbon alternatives for the CO2-emitting products and processes, some advocates suggest that a carbon price should rise over time.

According to the International Carbon Price Report, over 40 countries have established a carbon price. New York TimesHowever, the United States does not have this right.

A carbon tax would help Tesla by making gas more expensive, which would make its electric vehicles more attractive, and by increasing energy prices, which could encourage homeowners to adopt solar panels from Tesla and other providers. Musk recognized that, but warned it would affect SpaceX. SpaceX is an important consumer of fossil fuels, and Musk noted that the tax could harm his rocket business. SpaceX plans to drill to find natural gas, as well to use methane for its own production. rocket operations in Boca Chica.

So how about a carbon-tax? He said that we just need it.

Musk supported strongly the idea to get more out of used batteries using better recycling technology.

The battery materials can be recycled. The process of burning gas is not. The extremely stable chemical CO2 makes is a great example of this. The atmosphere of Mars was dominated by CO2 since billions upon billions years. It is extremely stable. Methane is sometimes a concern. You shouldn’t be too concerned about methane. The methane is quickly broken down to CO2. Methane, a volatile molecule, is unstable. Musk insisted that CO2 was extremely stable, and he did so to support SpaceX’s use methane.

The following is an extract from the Environmental Protection Agency,Methane traps heat more effectively than carbon dioxide by being 25-times as powerful as the former. Methane is also the second most abundant greenhouse gas emitted through human activity and industry, second after carbon dioxide. It accounts for about 20% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Austin Updates

Musk addressed shareholders about Tesla’s plan to produce cars close to customers’ locations at its annual shareholder meeting. Musk suggests that this can not only save shipping costs but reduce the company’s environmental impact.

Musk stated that “the sheer amount we spend on flying parts all over the globe is not very high.” It makes economic sense to produce on continents where consumers live.

Tesla is currently building a factory near Austin Texas that will produce its batteries. Another facility outside Berlin, Germany, is also being built.

Tesla confirmed on Thursday that Tesla has moved its headquarters to Austin

Musk believes the Texas facility, Giga-Austin will be following in the steps of Tesla’s Shanghai plant. This factory now makes more electric cars that are produced in Fremont in California.

Musk stated that the battery- and manufacturing advancements Tesla is making could lead to cheaper cars. Musk stated then that he was confident in making a $25,000 fully-autonomous electric vehicle. “About 3 year’s from now,” he added. Tesla claimed last year it had also designed its 4680 batteries at Fremont’s California facility.

Musk has not provided any updates on when a $25,000-electric vehicle will be available.

However, he said that Tesla wouldn’t be manufacturing 4680 Texas-made battery cells this year. These cells would be produced at a Fremont facility and shipped to Texas, as Model Y production rises.

Musk stated that he thinks the Tesla crossover utility vehicle will be the best-seller long-term, and surpass the Model 3 sedan.

Earlier this month, Tesla said it delivered 241,300 electric vehiclesDuring the third quarter 2021, the company produced 237 823 cars during that same time period.

Tesla claims that deliveries represent a close approximation of sales. As other automakers have seen their deliveries decline, the company set a new record. This is due in part to supply chain problems and global shortages of chips.

Musk believes global supply chain problems won’t be solved fully in 2023, he stated Thursday.
