FTC must ensure tech companies uphold children online privacy By Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters] – On Friday, three U.S. Democratic senators urged the Federal Trade Commision for technology companies like Alphabet and Facebook to comply with new policy changes that are intended to protect young users online.

In a letter to Senator Ed Markey, Representatives Kathy Castor (and Lori Trahan), the FTC cited recent promises made by companies in light of growing concerns by legislators about online youth. The FTC, said the letter seen by Reuters has an “obligation to ensure that powerful technology platforms comply with their public statements and policies on children’s and teen’s privacy.”
