Hasbro CEO Goldner takes medical leave By Reuters

(Reuters) – U.S. toymaker Hasbro Inc (NASDAQ) – Chairman and Chief Executive officer Brian Goldner is going on immediate medical leave. Rich Stoddart will continue as interim director.

Goldner announced the move late on Sunday. He had previously stated last year that he was still receiving medical treatment for his cancer diagnosis.

Stoddart was the Chief Executive Officer of Marketing Firm InnerWorkings (NASDAQ:) Inc.

Jefferies (NYSE 🙂 analysts noted that the medical leave of long-time CEO Goldner is a shock but it won’t affect Hasbro’s ability to implement its strategy, which is to concentrate more on growing its entertainment business and licensing business.

Other high-profile CEOs that have stepped away from day-to-day management for medical reasons include JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:)’s Jamie Dimon, who had an emergency heart surgery in 2020, and Altria Group Howard Willard of Inc after he received COVID-19 last January.

Apple Inc (NASDAQ 🙂 Steve Jobs was also on medical leave for 2011 after he had to battle pancreatic carcinoma.
