WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – U.S. job opportunities fell in August but remained high amid labor shortages which are limiting employment growth.

The Labor Department reported that job openings fell to 10.4 Million, an indicator of demand for labor, in Tuesday’s Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey.

The number of people employed fell from 439,000 to 6.3 Million.

After an increase of 366,000,000,000 in August, the government announced last Friday that nonfarm payrolls had increased only by 194,000.
