WASHINGTON (Reuters] -Maria Cantwell, Chair of the Senate Commerce Committee, called for Facebook’s Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday to save all documentation related to Frances Haugen’s last week testimony.

Cantwell (a Democrat) stated, “The testimony… raises serious concerns about whether Facebook masked the public, federal regulatorsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssmsss ssssss ss sns that sms s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s sen s so s sa sa sa spreads s s s s s s s s. “This committee will continue its oversight and work to pursue legislation to protect consumers’ privacy, improve data security, and strengthen federal enforcement to address the digital harms that are the subject of these hearings.”

She asked Facebook to preserve and retain internal Facebook research referenced by Haugen and Facebook’s evaluation of the research; ranking or composition systems; experiments or recommendations to change those ranking systems and the impact of Facebook’s platforms on children and teenagers under the age of 18.

Facebook didn’t immediately reply to our request for comment.

Last week, Facebook was harshly attacked by the Commerce Committee. Zuckerberg is accused of pushing for greater profits, while being indifferent about user safety. The Commerce Committee demanded that regulatory agencies investigate whistleblower claims that Facebook causes mental and physical harm to children.

Zuckerberg said that the allegations were in contradiction with Facebook’s objectives and defended his company.

Haugen demanded transparency on how Facebook encourages people to scroll, allowing advertisers ample opportunities to reach them.

Haugen is a former product manger on Facebook’s Civic Misinformation Team. The company left with thousands of confidential documents.
