Coinbase will Launch NFT Marketplace in the New Year
  • Coinbase (NASDAQ 🙂 announced today the launch of their NFT marketplace.
  • Coinbase is expected to be the first major cryptocurrency exchange to join the NFT-craze.

The world’s largest crypto exchange Coinbase has announced in a blog post the launch of its non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace later this year with a waitlist.

Sanchan Saxena, Vice President Product and Ecosystem at Coinbase, stated that their Coinbase NFT Marketplace would allow users to buy, find, and display digital collectibles.

Saxena says,

All NFTs have been added to the blockchain. Initial support for ERC-721 standards and ERC-1155 standards will be provided. Multi-chain support is planned shortly after. We’ll provide the best user experience, but we’ll never lock creators in.

Saxena notes in the blog that creators will be able to display and control their NFTs through decentralized contracts, metadata transparency and the NFT market.

He also stated that crypto-exchange aims to make NFTs easier accessible through user-friendly interfaces.

Saxena stated that the Social Services are being opened to open up new opportunities for learning and discussion. They will also grow the creator community.

What’s more, he also mentioned that Coinbase NFT would be a peer-to-peer marketplace that empowers creativity and the Coinbase NFT platform puts the art and artist’s experience at the lead with an intuitive design built on top of a decentralized marketplace.

Coinbase, which will go live once the project has been launched, will become one of the most prominent crypto exchanges to join the NFT-craze. FTX has recently introduced its NFT marketplace, which allows cross-chain trading of NFTs via Ethereum and other blockchains.
