GRUENHEIDE (Germany) – The first Tesla cars should be on the production lines by next month. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, stated that the company’s Berlin plant would produce the vehicles but noted that it will take longer.

Musk expects to be granted the go ahead in the coming weeks to begin production on the site. Following the closing of the last consultation, the Environment Ministry will take a final decision.

Musk stated that while starting production was nice, volume production is what is difficult. He spoke to the cheering crowd during a celebration at the plant site. Many people livestreamed the speech through social media. The journey to volume production will take more time than the building of the factory.

According to him, volume production will be 5,000-10,000 vehicles per week. Battery cells will also be produced there by next year.

He also supported the factory in its defense against environmental critics, saying it used “relatively few” water and was sustainable.

Some local residents and environmental groups are unhappy https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/teslas-gigafactory-electrifies-california-germany-culture-clash-2021-10-07 with Musk’s approach, which they say flies in the face of German business culture.

Manu Hoyer led a protest by locals against the project on environmental grounds. They claimed that it would pollute water supplies.

Brandenburg’s Economy Minister has placed the likelihood of the factory being approved to operate at 95%.

Tesla plans to invest $5 billion ($5.8 billion), more than Volkswagen’s (DE:) planned site of 40GWh in Salzgitter.

Musk stated that Tesla was concerned about the difficulty of recruiting enough staff and asked for applicants from all over Europe.

He stated that he was hopeful the plant would be able to produce large quantities of batteries by next year.

POP STAR RCEPTION

The festival was open to all, and the company provided 9,000 tickets. Priority was given to residents of Brandenburg.

Look, Mama! Emil, a 9-year-old excitedly shouted “A Tesla!” as he waited with his parents for the 90-minute tour.

Musk was welcomed to the Sunset Stage by his fans with cheers and laughter.

Fred Schroeder, Tesla fan said “This day’s unique.” “The Tesla factory will be open to the public in Germany for the first-ever time.” This is an extraordinary day.

A third person drove their Tesla in Britain from Milton Keynes without having to pay a parking ticket. It was worthwhile just to view the sights from the outside, he said.
