WASHINGTON, Reuters – A federal judge held Washington, D.C., Department of Corrections top officials in civil contempt. He had ruled that the Washington, D.C., Department of Corrections violated the civil rights of a U.S. Capitol riot suspect by preventing his access to health care.

U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth declared that it was more than mere ineptness and bureaucratic shuffling paper.

I believe that civil rights have been reduced for the defendant. Although I’m not sure if it was because he’s a Jan.6 defendant, I think that this matter should go to the attorney general in the United States… to conduct a civil right investigation.

Lamberth issued the verbal order during Wednesday’s court hearing. The judge had previously threatened to place Quincy Booth, District of Columbia Department of Corrections Director and Wanda Patten under contempt. They were accused of failing to hand over medical notes for Christopher Worrell.

Worrell is a self-described member of Proud Boys, and is currently facing multiple criminal charges in relation to his involvement in Jan. 6’s attack on Capitol.

Worrell fractured his hand on May 5. An orthopedic surgeon recommended that Worrell have the surgery in June to fix his hand.

Worrell was unable to have the surgery since then because the Department of Corrections had not given the U.S. the notes of the doctor. Marshals Service, despite numerous requests.
