REUTERS/Wolfgang Rattay/File PhotoNUERTINGEN (GERMANY) – Germany’s BMW is ready to face any ban on the internal combustion engine (ICE) in cars starting 2030, according to Oliver Zipse, chief executive officer.
As part of an overall package of global warming mitigation measures, the EU proposed a ban on all fossil fuel vehicles starting in 2035.
We will have ICE-ban prepared. Zipse spoke at a conference held in Nuertingen near Stuttgart.
The BMW Group does not seem to be concerned about it. It’s not clear if it is a good idea, but we will offer something.”
BMW, unlike rivals like Volkswagen (DE:), and General Motors(NYSE:), hasn’t set an end date on ICE car production.
But, the company has indicated that electric cars will make up 50% of worldwide car sales by 2030.
