U.S. hopeful of reaching deal with EU on steel tariffs by end-October -source By Reuters

WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The United States believes it will be able to resolve the dispute over steel and aluminum tariffs with the European Union before October 31st according to a source who was present at the talks.

U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai met with EU trade chief Valdis Dimbrovskis on Tuesday. He told a Washington think-tank last month that he is “moderately optimistic” about reaching an agreement.

The source spoke under condition of anonymity and said, “We are hopeful that we can reach an agreement by the middle of the month.”
