See which companies are making the headlines even before the bell rings.

UnitedHealth (UNH) – The health insurer’s shares rose 2.2% in the premarket after beating on the top and bottom lines for the third quarter and raising its full-year earnings forecast. UnitedHealth posted a $4.52 share profit, 11 cents higher than the consensus. The revenue gain at Optum’s drug benefits unit helped UnitedHealth earn $4.52 per share.

Bank of America (BAC) – Bank of America shares gained 2.8% in premarket trading, after reporting third-quarter earnings of 85 cents per share. It compares to the consensus estimate at 71c and revenue of 85c per share. This was helped by an increase of net interest income that doubled in value.

Wells Fargo (WFC) – Wells Fargo reported adjusted quarterly earnings of $1.22 per share, compared with a consensus forecast of 99 cents, while revenue also came in above estimates. Wells Fargo saw an increase in revenue due to the release funds which had been held aside for bad loans. Premarket, the stock gained 1.2%.

Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) – Walgreens shares rallied 2.4% in the premarket as its adjusted quarterly earnings of $1.17 per share came in 15 cents above estimates. Also, revenue beat estimates by more Covid-19 shots and a rise in cold and flu product sales.

Morgan Stanley (MS) – Morgan Stanley beat estimates by 30 cents with a third-quarter profit of $1.98 per share, while revenue beat Street forecasts as well. According to the investment company, its bottom line was a result of strong performances across its various business segments. Morgan Stanley saw a 1.5% increase in premarket trading.

Caterpillar (CAT) – The heavy equipment maker was up 1.2% in premarket action after Cowen began coverage with an “outperform” rating, saying it sees the first “megacycle” for Caterpillar in 14 years.

Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM) – The chip maker reported a better-than-expected 13.8% jump in third-quarter profit, thanks to the surge in global chip demand and a shortage that’s pushed prices higher. The premarket saw shares rise 3.8%.

Shopify (SHOP) – Shopify is partnering with Microsoft(MSFT) OracleORCL (or other cloud providers) to streamline businesses’ operations. Diverse tools of these companies will be now integrated in the Canadian ecommerce platform to its customers.

Avis Budget (CAR) – Avis Budget was downgraded to “underweight” from “equal-weight” at Morgan Stanley, citing a number of factors including valuation. Morgan Stanley considers Avis Budget at its peak for cyclical earnings. Avis Budget shares increased by fivefold during the last 12 months. In the premarket, Avis Budget stock plunged by 4.3%.

UPS (UPS) – UPS was upgraded to “buy” from “hold” at Stifel Financial, citing valuation, secular volume growth from e-commerce and continued focus on yield management. Stifel increased the price target of the stock from $224 to $224 per shares, which represents a possible 22% increase over current levels. UPS gained 2.6% during premarket trades.
