LONDON, (Reuters) – Britain’s transport minister Grant Shapps claimed Friday that he believes people can buy presents at Christmas because toys and electronic goods shipped from Britain were stopped leaving the largest port in the country.
Maersk Container Shipping, which is the largest container shipping firm in the world, diverted some containers from Felixstowe, eastern England, this week due to a shortage of drivers.
Shapps said that Christmas will bring people joy. According to Shapps, “I spoke to ports and they agreed that it was a bustling picture. But if we compare us to many other ports in the world, this will show how things flow.”
