LONDON (Reuters – Britain’s Brexit Minister David Frost stated Friday that significant changes are needed by the European Union if there is going to be a settlement over Northern Ireland in the Brexit divorce agreement, Politico reported.

Frost made clear the EU’s proposals as they stand are ultimately unacceptable as London wants a major concession from Brussels on the role of Court of Justice oversight in Northern Ireland, Politico reported.

Frost stated in an interview with Politico that “they will need to” if they are going to solve the problem.

Frost said, “All I can tell you is the governance question needs to been addressed seriously. If the EU are open to having a discussion about it on which they move from existing positions obviously we would be happy to have that dialogue.”
