The first bitcoin futures ETF in the U.S. is set to begin trading next week

[ad_1]

ProShares bitcoin futures ETF (ETF) will trade next week. An amended filing by the company was made Friday. The amendment marks an important moment in the growth of crypto in America.

At Friday’s end, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had not approved the creation a Bitcoin Futures ETF. It is possible that the SEC will never approve it. ProShares has announced that it is not likely to prevent the listing.

NYSE Arca late Friday afternoon certified “its approval for listing,” meaning that the exchange will allow investors to trade the funds as allowed under federal law without SEC intervention. According to a person who was familiar with SEC decision making, the ETF should be allowed trading starting next week barring any complaints from regulators.

ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF (which will provide exposure to Bitcoin futures contracts, but not the spot markets) will trade under ticker “BITO.”

According to the latest filing, Monday is the date that the listing would be effective. But that doesn’t mean the trading will commence on Monday. This could happen later in the week.

Many believe that the ETF will bring new investors to the digital currency. Crypto supporters have been lobbying for this approval for many years.

This is still a development story. Keep checking back for more updates.
